Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute — ISO Certified Post-Sea Maritime Training in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute, known as BMTI, is one of the most advanced maritime training centers in Bangladesh. Established in 2001 by Haque & Sons Ltd., BMTI provides post-sea upgrading and certification courses for Bangladeshi seafarers serving on foreign vessels worldwide.
BMTI is approved by DG Shipping Bangladesh for STCW 2010 training and is the first maritime training institute in Bangladesh to receive ISO 9001 certification from DNV.
Why BMTI
Why BMTI Was Established
When Haque & Sons Ltd. founded BMTI in 2001, the goal was clear. We needed a training center that could prepare our seafarers to meet the highest and most current international standards, without depending on outside providers.
The shipping industry changes constantly. New regulations, new technologies, and new vessel types demand continuous upgrading of seafarer skills. BMTI was built to keep our seafarers ahead of those demands, not catch up to them.
Today BMTI runs courses every week, serves seafarers at all levels of their careers, and maintains facilities that match the standards of the best maritime training centers in the region.

Our Instructors
Every instructor at BMTI is a Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with long practical experience on the specific vessel types they teach.
They do not just know the theory. They have commanded vessels, managed engine rooms, and handled real emergencies at sea. That experience comes through in every session they deliver, making BMTI training relevant, practical, and directly applicable to real onboard situations.
We believe that the quality of training is only as good as the quality of the people delivering it. That is why we are selective about who teaches at BMTI and why our graduates consistently perform well onboard.
Hostel and Accommodation Facilities
BMTI provides full hostel accommodation for up to 117 students, allowing seafarers from across Bangladesh to attend courses without the challenge of finding local accommodation.
For seafarers who prefer to arrange their own accommodation, hotels and other off-campus options are readily available in the surrounding area.
This accommodation provision ensures that distance is never a barrier for a seafarer who wants to upgrade their skills and certifications at BMTI.
How BMTI Connects to Our Wider Operations
BMTI does not operate in isolation. It is a core part of how Haque & Sons Ltd. maintains and continuously improves the quality of crew across our managed fleet.
Every seafarer we deploy has access to BMTI upgrading programs throughout their career with us. When new regulations come into force, we update our courses immediately and ensure our crew are compliant before they need to be. When a principal requires specific in-house training, we develop and deliver that program at BMTI.
This direct connection between training and deployment is one of the key reasons why the crew Haque & Sons Ltd. provides consistently meets and exceeds the expectations of our international clients.
