The Values That Have Guided Us for Over 75 Years

At Haque & Sons Ltd., our values are not a list on a wall. They are the principles we apply every day, in every crew decision, every vessel operation, and every client relationship.

These values have shaped us since 1948 and continue to define how we work.

Safety First, Always

Safety is not a department at Haque & Sons Ltd. It is a culture that runs through everything we do.

Every seafarer we deploy goes through thorough medical checks, STCW certification verification, and personal interviews conducted by our Master Mariners and Chief Engineers. We do not place a crew member on a vessel unless we are fully confident in their fitness and competence.

Our in-house training centers, International Maritime Academy and Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute, exist specifically to ensure our seafarers meet the highest international safety standards before they step onboard.

Quality is built into every layer of how we operate. We were the first shipping agent in Bangladesh to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification from DNV, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our quality management system covers crew recruitment, vessel operations, port agency work, and client communication. Every process is documented, audited, and continuously improved.

We do not cut corners. We do not compromise on standards. That is why international shipowners from Norway, Greece, Japan, and Singapore continue to trust us with their fleets.

Commitment to Quality

Passion for Maritime Excellence

We genuinely love what we do. The maritime industry is not just a business for us. It is a legacy that our founder, the late Al-Haj Abdul Haque Chowdhury, built from the ground up in 1948.

That passion is passed down through our leadership, our shore-based team, and the more than 4,000 seafarers who carry our name onboard vessels across the world.

When you work with Haque & Sons Ltd., you work with people who are deeply invested in the success of your fleet and the wellbeing of every crew member on it.

Our seafarers are not just workers we place and forget. They are our people, and we take full responsibility for their welfare from the moment they join a vessel to the moment they return home.

Our crew welfare programs cover entertainment onboard, family liaison support, full travel and documentation assistance, and access to medical care whenever needed.

Our superintendents make regular onboard visits to ensure crew performance and welfare are both being maintained to the standards we promise our principals.

Responsibility for Our People

Respect for the Sea

The sea demands respect, and we teach that to every seafarer who trains with us. Understanding the power and unpredictability of the ocean is the foundation of every seamanship program at our International Maritime Academy and Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute.

We also take environmental responsibility seriously. Safe ship operation and protection of the marine environment are core objectives written into our management system.

We are MLC 2006 certified, the first shipping company in Bangladesh to achieve this, and we comply fully with ISM Code requirements for environmental protection.

Our principals trust us with their most valuable assets, their vessels and their crew. We treat that trust as our most important responsibility.

We provide a lump sum crew management package that gives shipowners complete cost stability and removes all manning-related administrative burden from their operations. Every disbursement we make is supported by proper documentation and vouchers.

Our team of experienced Master Mariners and Chief Engineers oversees procurement, supervision, and reporting to ensure our clients always receive the best possible service at the best possible price.

Protecting Our Clients' Assets

Respect for the Sea

We believe strong client relationships are built on transparency. We do not hide problems or delay difficult conversations. When something needs to be addressed, we address it directly and work with our principals to resolve it quickly.

Our international offices in Japan, Canada, Myanmar, Pakistan, and the United States exist precisely to keep communication close and responsive, no matter where our clients are based.

We are reachable, accountable, and always focused on protecting our clients’ interests.

A Legacy of Trust

Every value we hold comes back to one thing: trust. Our clients trust us with their vessels. Their seafarers trust us with their careers and their safety. And the families of those seafarers trust us to bring them home.

We have been earning and protecting that trust since 1948. It is the foundation of everything Haque & Sons Ltd. stands for.
